They decided that since they believed that their camp was in this direction, they would try to take the most direct route since they believed that they didn't have a lot of time.

The mass of solidified magma reached right out to the very edge of the abyss and rose up at an angle of about eighty degrees to the top, which was about twenty feet high. Luckily, there were hand and foot holds, which they could use, which were casting long shadows on the rocks from the reddish light of the abyss; and they started to climb.

The rocks were sharp on their bare fingers, but were large enough to give them good holds; and when they reached the top, they looked out over the abyss toward the direction, where they believed they would find their camp.

Both adventurers looked at each other with a smile on their faces when they saw that the path from here was an easy, downhill stroll; and best of all, there was their camp at the bottom of the hill.
